About Lake Delhi

Lake Delhi – The Gem of Eastern Iowa

A wonderful place quietly tucked away in Eastern Iowa, is Lake Delhi.  Fed by the Maquoketa River, with 9 miles of lake twisting and turning its way through beautifully wooded bluffs and wildlife sanctuaries, Lake Delhi offers a wide variety of recreational and leisure activities for kids and adults alike.

Visitors to Lake Delhi have several wonderful public access points to the lake in addition to the many other spots to look out and view all the beauty and activity.  Turtle Creek Park offers camping as well as multiple boat ramps with trailer parking, beach, restrooms, and temporary docking.  Bailey’s Ford Park at the north end also features camping, pavilion areas, and access to Lake Delhi for small water craft.  At the south end of the lake is the world class Dam and award-winning Labyrinth Spillway that was recently built.  At the dam site there are spectacular views of the lake and dam/spillway, as well as the visitor site where the Wall of Recognition and Lake Delhi history displays are being created.  If you are a kayaker or canoer, there is portage at the dam to continue your journey downstream from Lake Delhi down the Maquoketa River.

If you like Fishing, Lake Delhi is well known to be a fantastic fishing spot for both recreational and experienced anglers.  The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has a comprehensive and ongoing fish stocking program at Lake Delhi that assures tremendous fishing for years to come.

Relaxing with family and friends is a major pastime at Lake Delhi, and two great spots for visitors to do just that are Lost Beach and Lake’s End Cabin Resort.  Lost Beach can be accessed by water for beach activities, and recent development of a year-around campground and restaurant will provide more opportunities to enjoy this beautiful spot.  At the top end of the Lake, Lake’s End Resort provides visitors with the opportunity to vacation multiple days while enjoying all the lake has to offer.

If you love to boat, ski, tube, wakeboard, or just cruise, Lake Delhi is the perfect venue.  There are multiple marinas at Lake Delhi that can take care of your boating supplies/maintenance, boat rental, gas, and convenience item needs.

Other ways to enjoy Lake Delhi are bird watching, snowmobiling, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, rafting, and enjoying annual activities and festivities held by the Lake Delhi District (see our Calendar of Events).  And if you keep your eyes peeled, you will see some of the most beautiful and majestic Bald Eagles who happen to consider Lake Delhi their home.
